Discover Australian Natives This Spring

Discover Australian Natives This Spring

At Aquila Hills Australian Natives, we wanted to create something that encourages people to slow down, get curious and discover the incredible plants growing around us.

Our Discovery Kits combine seeds with science, growing, creativity and observation, giving you a little monthly invitation to Grow • Learn • Connect with Australian nature.

This spring, we're beginning with three very different Australian native species.

September — Strawflower

Xerochrysum bracteatum

This is one of Australia's most recognisable everlasting flowers.

Strawflowers are fascinating plants to grow, with papery flower heads that retain their colour and structure long after flowering. Your September Discovery Kit introduces you to the species through growing, observation, creative activities and a closer look at the science behind this remarkable Australian native.

October — Red Kangaroo Paw

Anigozanthos manglesii

October brings one of Australia's most distinctive flowers — the Red Kangaroo Paw.

With its unusual tubular flowers and striking colours, Kangaroo Paw has a fascinating relationship with the birds and other animals that visit its flowers.

This month, you'll explore the species while growing your own and discovering more about the adaptations that make Australian native plants so interesting.

November — Bachelor's Buttons

Gomphrena canescens

For November, we turn our attention to the bright pink, spikey flower heads of Bachelor's Buttons.

This beautiful native has an entirely different form and growing story to our first two species, giving you another opportunity to observe how plants have adapted to their environment.

Grow • Learn • Connect

Each Discovery Kit is designed around three simple ideas:

GROW
Get your hands in the soil and experience the satisfaction of growing an Australian native from seed.

LEARN
Discover the science, ecology and stories behind each species.

CONNECT
Slow down, look closely and develop a deeper connection with the natural world.

Your kit includes seeds, a collectible Species Profile, growing and germination information, a hands-on experiment, creative discovery activities and botanical details to collect.

It's part gardening project, part science experiment, part creative activity — and a little excuse to spend some time slowing down and observing.

Three months. Three native species.

The Spring Subscription brings September, October and November's Discovery Kits together.

Each month, a new species arrives in your letterbox, ready for you to grow, explore and discover.

No huge box of supplies. No complicated gardening project. Focus on just one Australian native at a time.

All delivered as a convenient A5 large letter, ready to begin your next little botanical adventure.

The Aquila Hills Spring Subscription is now avavailable.
