The Aquila Hills Discovery Kit is more than a packet of seeds. Each month, we explore one Australian native species through our philosophy:

Grow • Learn • Connect

Combining hands-on experience, science, reading and learning, creativity, and closer observation of the natural world.

Our October species is Swan River Daisy, Brachyscome iberidifolia — a delicate Australian native annual that produces masses of daisy-like flower heads in shades of blue, purple, mauve and white. With fine, divided foliage and an abundance of flowers on slender stems, it brings colour and softness to the garden. Easy to grow under suitable conditions and generous with both flowers and seed, it's a rewarding species for observing the life cycle of an annual Australian native wildflower.

From the structure of its daisy-like flower heads to the development of seeds after flowering, Swan River Daisy offers plenty of opportunities to look closer, experiment and discover the science behind a familiar garden favourite.
